Troubleshooting KVT-400
Screen blinks on and off without showing any error codes
Only showing the autovent logo with a black background briefly, then going black.
Several seconds later it does it again.
The wind sensor gets power from the controller/ screen board. If the wind sensor shorts out, the controller and screen will restart.
Take a picture so you know how to reconnect the wires
Disconnect terminal 96
Disconnect rain sensor’s 3rd terminal Labeled blue.
Does controller still reboot:
Stopped rebooting: Go to Test 2
Still reboots : Disconnect all terminals. 96,97,98,& 99 and all 4 rain sensor terminals.
If it still reboots, check power supply voltage. Should be 24vdc between terminals 30&31. Should be 3.3v between 96&97.
Testing wind sensor wires
This test assumes the controller stopped rebooting
when the all weather sensor wires where disconnected
in test 1.
Go up to weather sensor junction box:
– Take picture of wires inside the junction box.
– Disconnect all of the 8 wires coming up from the
controller.
Make sure none of the now loose wires are touching
each other
– Reconnect all the wires down at the controller.
Does the controller reboot with only the wire connected?
No- Replace wind sensor – or Disconnect wind and then rains sensor to a certain issue is with wind
sensor ( most likely)
Yes- Replace wire
Expansion box 6th relay from right on forever.
- The 6th relay stays on regardless of the output status.
- - Remove the 2nd top left screw
- If relay turns off as screw is loosened, leave the fastener out permanently.
Livestock Comfort
- The "Sweet Spot": Programmed to keep Holsteins in their ideal 20° to 76°F range.
- Calf & Dairy Specific: Pre-set parameters that actually make sense for animal health, not just building temperature.
- Safety First: Constant curtain load monitoring prevents mechanical mishaps before they happen.
Remote Management
- Live Monitoring: View online temperature and movement graphs from your phone or truck.
- Remote Operation: Open or close curtains manually via the web if you're away from the barn.
- Reliable Connectivity: Choose between built-in Wi-Fi or an annual AT&T cellular service plan.

Why AutoVent?
AutoVent was founded by Kevin Hoover out of a simple necessity: Most controllers didn’t know how to handle wind.
While other systems blindly close every curtain when the temperature drops, the KVT-400 is built to be selective. By closing only the windward side, your barn maintains maximum air exchange at lower temperatures, keeping your herd dry and respiratory-risk-free.
